Rhinoplasty Surgery

There are many people throughout the UK that desire to perfect their physical features. Whether this is for mental health reasons in regards to people that have been badly injured or who were born with birth defects or simple desire to look their best does not matter. Rhinoplasty surgery is one of the most sought after procedures. The surgery is normally fairly similar in practice no matter the cause. The only exception is for dramatic nasal reconstruction and even that is simply a more labor intensive process.

Plastic surgeons are a popular career path due to the lucrative nature of the profession. People pay top dollar to them to look their best. During a rhinoplasty surgery several things will occur.

1) Anesthetic will be administered. This will be either a local or general anesthetic. Normally a mild sedative will be used to calm the patient down before the real anesthetic is utilized.

2) One of two technical procedures will be used at this point. The closed procedure involves internal surgery and the external skin will not be touched. The open procedure involves cutting the columnella, a small partition of flesh between the nostrils so that the surgeon can lift the skin of the nose away. This leaves the doctor room to perform augmentations and septoplasty. Septoplasty is a form of rhinoplasty that focuses on correcting a deviated septum.

3) The procedure is finished and roughly two weeks will go by as the patient waits to see the overall results. During this time painful swelling, bruising, and similar issues typically occur. Sometimes a lasting stiffness will settle around the nose as well. Temporary, and on rare occasions permanent, numbness may occur along the tip of the nose also.
